BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (KABC) – A parolee with an extensive criminal record has been arrested for a home invasion and shooting in Beverly Hills that resulted in the death of Jacqueline Avant, wife of a famous music director, the report said. police Thursday.
The Beverly Hills Police Department identified the suspect as Aariel Maynor, 29, of Los Angeles.
They say Maynor is a parolee with a long criminal record. He was caught after apparently shooting himself in the foot with an AR-15 while committing another burglary just an hour after allegedly killing Avant. Beverly Hills officers were called to the Avants home in Maytor Place 1100 block around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday morning after a shootout. Officers found the 81-year-old man with gunshot wounds. Avant was taken to hospital but was later pronounced dead.

About an hour later, officers from the Hollywood Division of the Los Angeles Police Department responded to another shooting call in the 6000 block of Graciosa Drive, where they found a man with a gunshot wound. at the foot.

Investigators later determined that Maynor was involved in a burglary at this house and accidentally shot himself with an AR-15. Further investigation has linked it to Avant’s death, according to a press release. The caliber of the gun matched the bullets found at the scene of Avant’s murder.

Beverly Hills Police Chief Mark G. Stainbrook said there were several surveillance videos showing Maynor’s vehicle heading east out of Beverly Hills shortly after the shooting.
