As Lockett said, the team’s offense looked good in training, but on game day there are too many mistakes, some of which were still evident on Sunday like penalties, sacks or , in the case of this particular game, turnovers. But even with those mistakes, the offense was able to get on the right track and look as consistent as it has been since the start of the year.
“You’re setting there like, ‘Brother, what do we have to do?’ Lockett said. “And I think we finally got past that. We were finally able to put together practices, we were finally able to believe, we were finally able to move the ball and do what we have always known how to do. ”
And again, it wasn’t always pretty. Gerald Everett had a day to forget, groping twice and turning what should have been a touchdown into an interception; there were a few death bags, two of which took the Seahawks out of reach of the baskets; but the Seahawks did enough on offense to convert five of seven third downs in their three touchdowns, and to run a season-high 68 melee games, and to win possession battle time for the first time any the season, and perhaps most important to their chances going forward, Wilson has looked the best he has had since returning from injury.
“Russ was strong,” Carroll said. “Good, solid football game. Made some good throws in the game. Took a few sacks, we need to talk about that; I thought maybe we could get rid of football. But I thought he played a really good football game. Two- The minute exercise was exquisite. Again, Tyler’s touchdown play, that orchestration of that road and concept and call, was a great call, by Shane (Waldron) and great execution by the guys, and a great pitch. Really, we should have scored the other time there. Gerald had a chance, he’s in the end zone, it’s a touchdown. We had the other one too. Russ had a few other touchdowns in him today that didn’t show up. I thought he played a really good game. ”
It was a weird, rambling game, but it was still a win for the Seahawks, a win that, as left tackle Duane Brown said, “does it all. Winning does it all. Get us on the right track. It’s a very good team. we went against, they were on a roll, winning at home – we haven’t been able to win at home in a while – that means everything. I have a lot of stuff to clean up, it wasn’t pretty at all, but we’ll take this ugly win any day of the week. ”
