RCMP seize 59 illegal firearms at the Canada-US border near Cornwall, Ontario. – .


Two men from Quebec face charges after RCMP seized 59 illegal firearms during an investigation into a boat disembarking at the Canadian border near Cornwall, Ontario.

RCMP said on November 28, members of the RCMP’s Cornwall Integrated Border Integrity Team launched an investigation into gun smuggling after a boat crossed the St. Lawrence River. and made landfall.

“Three large bags were unloaded from the boat into a vehicle which left the area,” the RCMP said in a statement on Thursday.

“Subsequently, the RCMP conducted a roadside check on the vehicle and found a large number of restricted and prohibited firearms and high capacity magazines.

The investigation uncovered a total of 53 restricted and prohibited pistols, six prohibited rifles and 110 magazines.

“As is the case with the vast majority of illegal firearms, these firearms are believed to be intended for criminal networks and gun trafficking groups,” said the RCMP.

Inti Falero-Delgado, 25, of Laval, Que., And Vladimir Souffrant, 49, of Montreal face several charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of weapons for the purpose of ‘traffic in it.

The RCMP say the Ontario Provincial Police, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service, the Montreal Police and the Sûreté du Québec supported the investigation.
