The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on the calendar for MMA and its fighters for the past 21 months, and now its UFC president, Dana White, who is dealing with the virus.

White revealed in an interview with Jim Rome on Wednesday that he tested positive for COVID-19 over Thanksgiving weekend. He added that he went to see UFC personality, podcast host and close friend Joe Rogan for medical advice, and also noted that he was vaccinated.

“We went to my house in Maine for Thanksgiving; it’s the tradition that we ride there every Thanksgiving, ”White said. “Someone up there had it, and we come back and we’ve all tested positive for COVID. Literally the whole family and my family in Maine too.

“We returned on Saturday. Sunday – I cold and steam dive every day – I come out of the cold dive and I go in the steamer, and I spray the eucalyptus and I couldn’t smell a thing. So I open the bottle, start to sniff the eucalyptus bottle, and I’m like yeah, I don’t have a smell. So you know what that means. I literally got out of breath, picked up my phone, and called Joe Rogan.

Upon hearing the news, several fighters and members of the MMA community took to social media to wish White good health, including middleweight contenders Kelvin Gastelum and Derek Brunson, and longtime public servant John McCarthy.
