According to the report, the prince agreed to meet Mahfouz in 2013 following a £ 50,000 donation to his charity, with the billionaire hinting at lavish new contributions. The two are said to have met at a pub in Chelsea, discussing the Duke’s charity named Sentebale, and then again at the British royal residence of Clarence House. The report alleged that this series of meetings paved the way for Mahfouz to gain access to Harry’s father, Prince Charles.

The prince’s spokesman denied the newspaper’s claim, accusing The Times of “To be deliberately vague” in an attempt to create a “Falsified link” between Prince Harry and the money-for-honor scandal involving Prince Charles and Mahfouz.

The spokesperson insisted that Prince Harry did not have “A scheduled meeting” with the Saudi businessman and “Did not present it to any member of the royal family”, while simultaneously expressing concerns about the reason for Mahfouz’s generous donation.

Prince Harry severed all ties with Mahfouz in 2015 and did not accept any further donations from the man for his charity, the spokesperson said.

The ongoing money-for-honors scandal rocked the royals earlier this year, with the Met Police’s “celebrity team” investigating the case involving “Leading suspects”. The investigation has already led to the downfall of a close associate of Prince Charles, Michael Fawcett. The former personal valet of the heir to the British throne resigned from the management of the prince’s charity earlier this month.

British media uncovered a letter Fawcett allegedly wrote to a Mahfouz aide in 2017, praising “Current and most recent generosity” billionaire. The letter also pledged support for the billionaire’s British citizenship, as well as the title of knight.

Mahfouz has visited Britain several times over the years, meeting Prince Charles on several occasions, with the royal even personally unveiling a fountain named in his honor in 2014. The Saudi national has also been awarded an honorary CBE – a version of the Order of the British Empire reserved for foreigners – look back in 2016 on its exceptional “UK charity services”.
