The former Good Morning Britain presenter, 56, regularly poked fun at BBC Breakfast presenter Dan, 44, as they argued over ratings one morning.
And Piers couldn’t resist a little dig yet again after Dan left Strictly Come Dancing this weekend.
Despite being the favorite to quit the series for several weeks, Dan continued to defy the odds and stay in the competition before finally receiving his marching orders on Sunday.
He narrowly missed a place in the semi-finals of the competition after being eliminated following a dance match with AJ Odudu.
But he was quick to congratulate his professional partner Nadiya Bychkova and express his gratitude for taking part in the show.
He shared a video from the BBC’s Twitter account as he left the show and commented, “Well… what a ride!

“#Strictly has been a truly wonderful experience for me. I enjoyed every second. @NadiyaBychkova is a superstar: kind, supportive, funny, intelligent, the best teacher I could have hoped for and a great friend.
“Thank you for the support and thank you for having us. “
While fans and famous faces, including former Strictly dancer James Jordan, praised the star on his performances, Piers was not about to give him his moment and quoted Dan’s post on Twitter.
He replied: “You came in 5th, buddy. She needed a better student. “
Her response was not very well received, however, with many fans criticizing the star’s outspoken choice of words.
One user wrote: “Absolutely no need for this tweet. “
Another was of the same opinion and said: “Pointless comment, too bad people are like that. I guess that’s the world we live in. “
A third asked Piers to feature in a future edition of the competition, saying, “Instead of criticizing what has been a great zero dance experience trip to be able to dance, why don’t you get ready for it? next year and see if you can do better? “

Piers’ comments came the night he also stepped down from his presentation duties on ITV’s Life Stories.
In another tweet, he wrote: “The end. But as Sinatra said, “The best is yet to come, and is it going to be okay?” »See you in 2022 with my new daily global program.
Her candid conversation with Kate Garraway left some fans in tears as her former co-host opened up about her life and the condition of her husband Derek Draper.
Derek contracted Covid-19 in early 2020 and was hospitalized for 13 months, making him the worst Covid patient living in the UK.
He has since returned home but finds it difficult to communicate after the virus ravages his body – including his brain – and requires 24-hour care.
