Marner quits Maple Leafs practice early after ‘creepy’ collision with Muzzin – .

Mitch Marner’s status for Saturday’s game at Minnesota is uncertain after the Toronto Maple Leafs winger suffered an accidental collision with teammate Jake Muzzin during Friday practice.
Marner hit the ice after the hit and needed a few moments to get up.

” It’s scary. I just hope everyone’s okay, ”goalkeeper Joseph Woll told reporters.

“Two very important players in our team, and Mitchy seemed to have taken the worst a bit. So I hope he’s okay. He’s a fighter so I’m sure he’ll be fine and do whatever he can to play.

After expressing some frustration to Muzzin, Marner skated on the ice at the Ford Performance Center early for precautionary reasons. He was accompanied by a member of the club’s medical staff.

“We’ll see how he’s doing tomorrow morning. It doesn’t sound like anything serious at this point. He’s going to travel and all that stuff and get ready to play, but we’ll see how he’s doing in the morning, ”head coach Sheldon Keefe said before the club chartered the west.

“I was told there was a little exchange right before I came here, but especially these two guys, I don’t care at all about that stuff. Things are happening there, whether it’s training, games, whatever. Our team is very close, and this stuff will be shaken up pretty quickly. “

This is the second time this season that Marner has suffered an accidental blow during Leafs training.

Wayne Simmonds cut the winger the day before the October opener. Marner also left that skate early, but felt great the next morning and hasn’t missed a game all season.

Marner leads the club with 15 assists.

Unique: Ondrej Kase (upper body) did her first full training in over a week. There is a possibility of entering the roster against the Wild. … Ilya Mikheyev (thumb) also skated with the team. He will travel with the group for the double weekend program but will not play. … Alternate goalkeeper Petr Mrazek (groin) was loaned to the Marlies on a conditioning run. It should start Sunday against Laval. … Joseph Woll (day to day, stiff) and Michael Hutchinson will travel with the team. We should start Sunday in Winnipeg. … Morgan Rielly took time off for maintenance on Friday. He’s still suffering from a blocked shot (see below) a week ago in San Jose and hasn’t missed a game since. “It worked to the point where they wanted to get more imaging,” Keefe said. The x-rays were clear.
