Kyle O’Reilly issues statement amid WWE NXT farewell rumors – – .

Kyle O’Reilly took to Twitter today to message fans after what appeared to be an emotional farewell following the post-WarGames edition of WWE NXT 2.0 last night.
As we noted, the post-show segment at WWE Performance Center last night saw NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa, WWE Hall of Famer and VP of Talent Development Shawn Michaels, Candice LeRae and others welcome what seemed like a farewell for O’Reilly and Johnny Gargano, amid rumors of their upcoming NXT departures. You can click here for photos and videos from the post-show segment. NXT saw O’Reilly lose Steel Cage’s opener to Von Wagner, while Gargano was destroyed by Grayson Waller as he addressed his status. Their future is on hold as O’Reilly’s contract would expire for some time this week, and Gargano’s expire on Friday.

In an update, O’Reilly tweeted this afternoon and said he was truly overwhelmed with the support. He also said it didn’t mean goodbye, just “feel up later”.

“Really overwhelmed by all the loving and heartfelt messages. This does not mean by any means to say goodbye… it is enough to feel you later, ”he wrote.

NXT chief referee Darryl Sharma then took to Instagram and shared a photo from Tuesday’s post-show farewell. He recalled how he struggled against O’Reilly in 2006, and continued to work with him in WWE.

“I first worked with Kyle when I wrestled him in 2006 for ECCW in British Columbia. He was fairly new but everyone there already knew he was going to be really good. I just think no one knew he was going to be THAT good. I can’t even begin to list how many of my favorite WWE games and times involve Kyle. Beyond that, do you know how it is often said that referees do not have enough credit? Well, there are definitely those out there who go out of their way to make sure the umpires get the respect they deserve – and Kyle is right there at the top of that list. And I never felt that respect was only due to having been a wrestler or a wrestler with a similar style to his (without even trying to pretend to be almost as competent as him). It’s a respect for my role in his games and society as a whole, and who I am TODAY, which means so much more. My opinion has always mattered to him. Most importantly, Kyle is just a really good guy. Anyone who’s ever been in a ring with him is better because of it, and any dressing room that’s ever had it is better because of it. Thanks a lot Kyle! O’Reilly responded to this post and provided props to Sharma, Tom Castor and Brewer for their work in the ring as NXT referees.

“The sweetest post ever [red heart emoji] @DABrewerWWE @tomcastorWWE @WWEdarrylsharma are some of the most talented guys I’ve ever worked with, ”O’Reilly wrote.

O’Reilly’s WWE contract would expire this week, but there is no update on whether he plans to re-sign, and the same is true with Gargano. “Thank You Kyle” and “Thank You Johnny” continue to be hot topics on Twitter this week.
