Keira Knightley was in great shape as she returned to the film set after contracting a groundbreaking case of COVID-19.

The actress, 36, was spotted filming the Boston Strangler in Cambridge, Massachusetts on Friday, just days after it emerged that she and her family were battling the virus.

Although she admitted to feeling like a ‘garbage can’ in the midst of her illness, Keira looked healthy as she threw herself into the character of Loretta McLaughlin, the groundbreaking journalist who told the story of the Boston Strangler in the early 1960s.

Keira was dressed in costume when she entered the set, located at Lesley University.

The star wore a classic green coat, belted dress, black heels and a floral scarf around her neck.

Her short hair was given an elegant touch as it was styled in loose curls that framed her face with a side part.

Sometimes, and apart from her vintage look, she bundles up against the winter with a large midnight blue jacket that fell to her knees.

A masked employee helped Keira put on her thick winter jacket, and the actress couldn’t help but let out a relieved smile as she threw on the extra layer of warmth.

Keira described her battle with COVID-19 in an interview with the Sunday Telegraph’s Stella magazine that was published last weekend.

Double Bitten Keira is married to Klaxons musician James Righton and they share two daughters, Edie, six, and Delilah, two – who she says are doing better than she is.

She said of her asymptomatic husband: ‘[He is] be very smug about it – he’s convinced it’s because he’s one of those cold water swimmers and not me.

The actress admitted that she “felt pretty bad.”

A representative for the actress told People that Keira and her husband are fully vaccinated and have completed the required 10 days in quarantine.

In October, it was revealed that people with a double bite still have a one in four chance of catching Covid from an infected household member, according to a study by “Professor Lockdown” Neil Fergusson.

This is even the case if the infected person has been completely bitten themselves, in what is called a vaccine breakthrough case, researchers at Imperial College London have said.

However, people who were bitten recovered from the virus faster, resulting in less severe and shorter symptoms. Getting vaccinated also decreases a person’s chances of contracting Covid in the first place.
