Iranian Raisi says he is working to lift sanctions – .

        <span class="t-location">Téhéran (AFP) – </span>Le président Ebrahim Raisi a promis de s'attaquer aux problèmes économiques de l'Iran et a déclaré que son gouvernement s'efforçait de lever les sanctions, dans une interview télévisée dimanche marquant ses 100 premiers jours au pouvoir.        </p><div>

        <p>Raisi, un ultraconservateur qui a pris ses fonctions en août, se présente comme un pieux champion de la lutte contre la corruption des pauvres.

He cited inflation, high prices and tax evasion as major challenges facing his government.

“The government is doing everything to achieve economic stability and a predictable market,” he said.

“The lifting of sanctions is being pursued with vigor,” he added, referring to negotiations on a 2015 nuclear deal that granted Iran sanctions relief in exchange for restrictions on its nuclear program.

The historic deal with world powers began to crumble in 2018 when US President Donald Trump stepped down and reimposed the sanctions, prompting Iran to start reneging on its commitments.

Negotiations in Vienna resumed last Monday, after Iran halted talks following Raisi’s election in June.

“The people are well aware of the situation in the country when I took the reins of government,” said the president.
