NEW YORK — The New York Rangers extended their season-high six-game winning streak to beat the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.
The Rangers (16-4-3) have won eight straight home games since October 29. They are 10-1-0 since November 8.
“We come to the rink hoping to win games,” said Strome. “We come in knowing that we’re a good team and that we have the ability to win games when we come together and that’s what we’ve done. It’s a good feeling right now. “
Patrick Kane had a goal and an assist, Seth Jones got two assists and Kevin Lankinen made 28 saves for the Blackhawks (8-13-2).
Chicago is 3-4-0 since winning a four-season high from Nov. 7-17.
“We led a great hockey team all the way and we were still in the game,” said Blackhawks coach Derek King. “It wasn’t a rash and we fought. We have done a lot of positive things. Hey there are going to be mistakes and we made a few and they cost us. But you know what, those two mistakes that cost us, when I first got here there were probably about 10 or 12 mistakes. I think we are making very good progress. “

The Rangers announced ahead of the game that the goalkeeper Igor Shesterkin was placed on the injured list and would miss at least three games with a lower-body injury he sustained in a 1-0 win over the San Jose Sharks at the Garden on Friday.
Georgiev has made 34 saves on 36 shots since relieving Shesterkin with 14:52 left in the third period against San Jose. He hadn’t played since allowing four goals on 18 shots in two periods against the Buffalo Sabers on Nov. 21.
His goals-against average for the season fell to 3.58 after Saturday’s win after dropping to 4.08 on Friday. Its stop percentage is 0.876 to 0.858.
Georgiev said he needed a good start and a win for his confidence after struggling with her for the past two weeks.
“I don’t really want to talk about the last two weeks,” Georgiev said. “Not much playing time and things didn’t go very well, but at the same time, I’m happy that I had the chance to play, happy that I had the chance to win games. This is the most important for us. “
The Rangers have also improved to 8-1-3 in one-goal games, including 6-1-0 in seven of those games since November 8.
“Everyone is there for the common goal, everyone wants to win hockey games,” Strome said. “It’s a lot of fun coming to the ice in this position.
Panarin said the Rangers’ success overall stems from their camaraderie off the ice and the details of their play on it.
“I think we work pretty well together and there is good energy in the locker room, off the ice too,” said Panarin. ” Good friends. We respect each other. Then the coach also gives us confidence. I think every piece [of our game] we are trying to be better and that’s why we are not bad this year. “
Chicago scored the first Saturday with Kane’s goal at 19:37 of the first period, giving him a 1-0 lead. Brandon Hagel hit the puck out of Georgiev’s air and into the slot to Kane, who put it.
The Rangers challenged the missed save, claiming Hagel illegally hit Kane the puck with a high stick. The Toronto Situation Room supported the on-ice referee’s appeal that Hagel’s stick was not above his shoulders and the Rangers were fined a minor for delaying the game.
But the Blackhawks failed to convert to a power play and the Rangers managed theirs early in the third period, Strome’s goal from the right circle on a Panarin pass out of the left circle, tying 1-1 at 4:41.
“We dropped a seam and it’s in our net,” Jones said. “Panarin is quite talented. “

Adam fox went 2-1 at 5:25 pm, shooting from the lunge after Panarin’s shot into traffic from the right circle was knocked down ahead.
Panarin increased the lead to 3-1 from the left circle on a backhand pass from Strome at 14:46 of the third period.
Alex DeBrincat scored at 18:41 with a left circle shot that crossed Georgiev and crossed the goal line to make the score 3-2. The decision on the ice was initially not a goal, but it was changed to a goal during the video review.
“It’s a tough loss,” Jones said. “We did some good things. “
