France FINALLY admits that it could take back the migrants from the Channel – .

FRANCE has finally admitted that it could take back migrants arriving in Britain on small boats – but only if other EU countries agree.
French Prime Minister Jean Castex told Boris Johnson he was ready to put a “mechanism” in place.

France has pledged to start talks with member states. Mr Johnson said a return deal with France would be the easiest way to make the dangerous route through the Channel unsustainable.

Last week, 27 migrants died when their small boat sank, triggering a week of stampede during the crisis.

President Emmanuel Macron called Mr Johnson a “clown” for posting a letter to him on Twitter.

Yesterday Mr Castex – in a letter sent to No 10 and to French media – said the UK had more to do to stop level crossings, such as “sufficient labor market controls”.

But he rejected Interior Minister Priti Patel’s plan to put the ships back to sea.

He said it would “endanger the lives of migrants and not fall under maritime law”.

He formally rejected an offer from British troops or police to help patrol French beaches, adding: “It is a question of sovereignty. France has again suggested setting up an asylum-seekers processing center in Calais to help cope with the crisis – as The Sun revealed earlier this week.

Some 26,000 migrants made the trip across the Channel this year.

A spokesperson for No10 said Britain and France were determined to prevent further loss of life.

They added: “We are ready to discuss all options in the spirit of our close cooperation and partnership, and as a shared global challenge, it is vital that we collectively and urgently tackle migration. illegal.
