Eden Research PLC Says France’s Approval for Key Product Opens Important New Market for Company – .

The company’s biofungicide, Mevalone, has been approved by the ANSES regulatory agency for use in apples and pears

Eden Research PLC (AIM: EDEN, OTCQB: EDNSF) said France has given the green light for the company’s biofungicide, Mevalone, to be used on apples and pears to prevent post-harvest storage disease.

The approval from regulatory agency Anses opens up an important new market for the company, investors said.

France produces nearly 1.6 million tonnes of apples per year and is regularly among the top three apple-producing countries in the EU.

The advantage of Mevalone over traditional crop protection is that it can be applied in the critical final weeks of the season, when skin damage occurs, leading to rotting during storage, the biopesticides group said. durable and plastic-free products.

Traditional pesticides often have to be applied earlier than optimal due to the chemicals left behind. The Eden product contains natural plant active ingredients which are free from EU crop residue limits.

“The new use of Mevalone on apples, which is classified as a major crop in France, is an exciting development for Eden, and expands our addressable market in this key European territory,” said Managing Director Sean Smith.

“Mevalone has significant potential in several market segments, and we are focused on product development to meet the needs of farmers who are increasingly unable to use many conventional chemicals due to more stringent regulations. “

The product has been available in the country under emergency use authorization since 2019.
