Ypsilanti, moi. – The main COVID-19 indicators in the county do not look good, according to the Washtenaw County Department of Health.

The health ministry released its weekly summary of COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, deaths, outbreaks and vaccination rates on Friday.

“We are all tired of COVID, but this pandemic is not over. We have effective tools to prevent further spread and avoid the worst impacts of COVID – we must use them all! The Washtenaw County Health Department said in a social media post.

Between December 2 and 3, 258 cases, five hospitalizations and five deaths were reported.

The summary shows that as of November 30, Washtenaw County had been at a high level of COVID-19 transmission since August. The indicators, according to the summary, are going in the wrong direction to:

  • the weekly case rate of people aged 5 to 17 (per 100,000 people)
  • the positivity rate of the test (from MI Safe Start)
  • the number of new hospital admissions of residents linked to COVID
  • the number of county resident deaths linked to COVID
  • the weekly number of vaccine doses administered by WCHD

Indicators going in the right direction include the percentage of the county’s fully immunized population, the percentage of children ages 5-11 vaccinated with one or more doses, the total number of reported outbreaks, and the number of reported outbreaks for the classes. K-12.
