While the Fortnite Chapter 3 launch is expected to kick off in just under two hours, overnight we’ve already taken a look at the all-new map, which arrived after the old island s ‘is completely flipped, revealing the third Fortnite map below.
Epic hosted a community event last day that asked players to flip their profile photos upside down and post the hashtag #Fortniteflipped. The more people did this, the more the sections of the map were de-pixelated. This gave rise to some … interesting developments.
But eventually the entire map was revealed, which you can check out below, or you can head to the site which lets you zoom in on specific areas. There are a lot of details to see.
Obviously, some old areas are visible, and there is a list of points of interest and landmarks that were leaked ahead of the official launch, which includes:
There are about four more pages, so that’s a lot.
As you can see, most of the map is currently covered in snow, which I guess isn’t accidental considering it’s December, and Fortnite has covered its map with snow during this. part of the previous year. I would expect it to eventually wipe out the entire map (other than maybe the desert), but then back off and probably be limited to the mountains as spring approaches.
Speaking of weather, we already know that a big change is coming to Fortnite in Chapter 3: Actual Weather. Not only is snow spreading across the map, but from the previews we have seen severe tornadoes and thunderstorms that can occur across the map. I’m not sure if they’ll just be random or if something sets them off, but it should be a new dynamic to fight.
When the map launches into the game later today, it will undoubtedly be completely blackened out, as it tends to happen when Epic launches a new map or areas. Players will be responsible for discovering the new POIs on their own and “cleaning” the map of all darkness as if it were a Ubisoft game. Land and the zones will reveal themselves
There will definitely be a lot to discover and I can’t wait to explore the brand new map, with some old areas returning. We’re in another new era of Fortnite, and we’ll have plenty of additional battle pass and new challenges coverage later today once these live, so stay tuned for that.
