In case you didn’t know, Gabriel has already served four years in prison – something his reality TV star brother explained as he competed for Tayshia Adams‘heart on season 16 of La bachelorette. Ivan said of his brother’s experience and police brutality at the time:
“Especially with George Floyd and the police brutality, it’s something that really struck me. You can only imagine how wilder it could be in prison. My brother used to tell me stories about how these correctional officers, like, beat him. And I felt so bad because my first question was like, “Well, Gabe, what have you done?” ” It does not matter. No matter what George Floyd did anyway, or what my brother did, these people have a job to do and they have to do it right. They can’t just hurt people for no reason.
During another episode of the dating series, Gabriel actually surprised Ivan and Tayshia and joined their date in their hometown. In a confessional, the 29-year-old Baccalaureate in paradise alum expressed:
“The biggest surprise of the evening was that my brother was there. It was just, like, such a range of emotions, and it meant the world to me. It’s very special for me to have my brother here; he grew up with me and knows me best. In the end, he’s my best friend, so I’m very happy that Tayshia meets him.
For his part, Gabriel gushed about how Ivan was his “best friend”:
“I mean, whatever you said, I could say the same about you.” You are my best friend, I admire you. It’s just a shame that when I dropped into the water you had to learn to ride the waves too.
As of yet, Ivan has apparently not spoken about his brother’s arrest. We keep in mind all those affected by this incident.
