AXA IM Alts adds a 537 hectare forest in France to its portfolio

AXA IM Alts has invested an undisclosed sum to purchase a 537 hectare forest in France on behalf of clients.
AXA IM Alts said the acquisition of Queen’s Forest brings its total forest assets under management to 84,000 hectares in France, Ireland, Finland and Australia.

La Forêt de la Reine is located in Gerbéviller in Meurthe et Moselle. The deciduous forest includes a standing stock composed mainly of oaks (88%), alongside a few beeches (11%) and a small number of other species, centered around a large pond.

France is AXA IM Alts’ leading forest market for hardwood species, representing 63% of the park managed on behalf of customers in this market.

Laurent Lavergne, Global Head of Asset Management and Development at AXA IM Alts, said: “With the acquisition of La Forêt de la Reine, we took advantage of the rare opportunity to acquire a unique and dense forest. well located near a solid support infrastructure.

“Through careful management of the Queen’s Forest, we can further extend AXA IM Alts’ decarbonization strategy and the preservation of biodiversity, at the same time, allows our clients to benefit from an asset class highly resilient supported by a strong demand for oak as a versatile renewable material.
