Arsenal defender Gabriel was forced to fight a thief at his north London home after being followed and attacked with a baseball bat.

In CCTV footage obtained by the Daily Mail, the 23-year-old center-back and a friend are confronted by two men trying to steal his Mercedes and his watch.

Abderaham Muse, who has been named as one of the forwards, pounced on the Brazilian with a bat.

Gabriel punched him in the face, grabbed his hat and wrestled with him before the abuser finally fled.

Muse was jailed for five years last month after police were able to identify him using the hat’s DNA.

Prosecutor Martin Lewis told Harrow Crown Court: “No injuries were sustained, but great shock was caused. They happened to attack two victims who were very fit and able to take care of themselves. “

Meanwhile, Judge Anupama Thompson told Muse: “Although you did not specifically target the victim because he was a well-known footballer, it was realized that this person was rich and deserved to be stolen.

“You saw a nice car and a nice house and you thought it was rich pickings. Fortunately, thanks to the courageous actions of the people you targeted, no further damage was done.

Gabriel joined Arsenal from Lille in 2020 for £ 27million and has been one of manager Mikel Arteta’s most consistent players.

The Brazilian defender has played 42 times since joining the club and in the Gunners’ last 10 league games he’s been part of a defense that has conceded just eight goals.
