Yesterday (December 7), leaked footage revealed senior executives in Downing Street filmed themselves joking about hosting a Christmas party at No 10 last year.
In the video obtained by ITV News, Boris Johnson spokeswoman Allegra Stratton joked that the party was “not socially distanced” and suggested presenting it to the public as “a business meeting” .
The footage was recorded as a rehearsal of scheduled TV news briefings, with fictional questions released by Prime Minister’s Special Advisor Ed Oldfield and other staff.
Johnson has apologized for the video but continues to deny that any party took place.
“If there’s one thing we’ve learned in the last 24 hours, it’s that you can’t get away with covering things up,” Ant said on tonight’s episode of I am a celebrity.
“No, it’ll come back to bite them at some point.” It could take a year, but it will happen, ”agreed on December 12.
“The situation was clear as day. We’ve all watched the video of them getting the wrong question. It was obvious what happened. Even Ant and Dec are ahead of the Prime Minister – sorry! Danny Miller – on this one.
The joke referred to Keir Starmer’s comments in today’s Prime Minister’s Questions (December 8) in which the Labor leader spoke about Ant and December.
“We all watched the video of the Prime Minister’s staff… they knew there was a party, they knew it was against the rules, they knew they couldn’t admit it, they thought it was was funny, ”Starmer said.
Yesterday’s episode (December 7) of I am a celebrity Likewise, the presenters targeted the Prime Minister over the Downing Street incident.
I am a celebrity will end next Sunday (December 12), when the new King or Queen of the Castle succeeding defending champion Giovanna Fletcher is appointed.
