Bombay : Actress Jacqueline Fernandez was arrested today at Mumbai Airport by immigration officers on the grounds of a LOC (Look Out Circular). The Directorate of Execution had opened an LOC against the actor in the Sukesh Chandrasekar case. Ms. Fernandez wanted to go to Dubai for a show. She was released after brief interrogation and was informed that she was due to appear before the investigative agency in Delhi.
ED will issue him with a new summons to appear at the Delhi office tomorrow
The investigative agency filed an indictment in a Delhi court against con artist Sukesh Chandrasekar and others in the 200 crore money laundering case, alleging that he extorted 200 crore from rupees to the wife of a businessman while he was incarcerated in Tihar prison. The central agency unearthed evidence showing financial transactions from Chandrasekar to Ms Fernandez. A horse valued at Rs 52 lakh and a Persian cat valued at Rs 9 lakh were among the gifts valued at Rs 10 crore offered by Chandrashekar to Ms Fernandez, the ED said in its deed of accusation, according to sources.
The investigation into the alleged proceeds of crime reaching the Bollywood actor from Sukesh is still ongoing and the actor must be questioned again.
Along with Ms Fernandez, the indictment mentions actor Nora Fatehi, who was questioned in this case. Ms. Fernandez and her associates were also interviewed.
Chandrashekar had previously told media that he had offered Ms Fatehi a car.
Earlier, a representative of Nora Fatehi had said that she “had been a victim”. “She does not know or has any personal connection with the accused and has been called by ED to strictly assist with the investigation,” the representative said, adding that the actor is cooperating with the investigation.
