MANILA, Philippines – More than 1.6 million doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine were delivered to the Philippines on Wednesday.

The doses, totaling 1,632,900, were donated by the French government, the National Working Group against COVID-19 said.

The vaccine doses arrived just as the government entered the third day of its massive national COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

It aimed to immunize nine million people against severe respiratory disease.

As of November 30, the government was able to immunize more than five million people against COVID-19. The vaccination campaign began on November 29 and ended on December 1.
