Former X Factor and America’s Got Talent reality TV star Thomas Wells has died aged 46, it has been confirmed.

His wife Jessica Wells informed TMZ that the amateur singer was involved in an accident while working at a tire factory in Oklahoma.

He died on November 13.

Jessica told the outlet that parts of her husband’s body were trapped in machinery as a result of the crash, involving ‘conveyor belt’ type equipment that did not stop.

Thomas was reportedly rushed to a nearby hospital in Idabel, Oklahoma and then airlifted to a larger hospital in Tyler, Texas.

Specialists tried to save his life, but the TV star later died.

According to the report, his wife Jessica for 17 years “remembers him as a unique person who always had a smile on her face and tried to make people laugh.”

Adding: “He would sometimes start singing and not care about the spotlight. “

The talented musician made his X Factor debut in 2011 and went on to appear on similar music competition shows, The Voice, America’s Got Talent and The Winner Is.

Although the self-taught multi-instrumentalist and former choir member had a knack for music and loved to sing, he never hit hard.

At the time of filming X Factor, he was working at a food manufacturer in Oklahoma.

Wells was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas and celebrated his 46th birthday on September 2.

He was predeceased by a brother, Justin Todd Wells.

Besides his wife, Wells is survived by his parents, Ricky and Rosemary Dean, as well as a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Brandi and Robert Williams.

A funeral was held for him on November 20, after a vigil on November 19.
