Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said the woman was heading to her car, parked on Ethel Guest Lane near Oaklawn and Statesville avenues in North Charlotte around 5 a.m. on Sunday. It was at this point that she said that a man with a gun came from behind, threatened her, took her to his car and took her, where he had her. then sexually assaulted.
“It was very, very terrifying,” she said. “I couldn’t stop crying. “
The woman told Channel 9 that she believed the man was following her before the attack.
“It hurts and angers me to know that he might do this to other women as well,” she said.
The woman told Channel 9 that she parked her car to go to a party on Saturday night. She was driving a Lyft back to her car and moments after exiting the ride, the man grabbed her from behind and pointed a gun at her head.
“He said if I wanted to live, ‘You have to shut up and do whatever I say’, and I just said ‘OK’,” she said.
She said he then forced her into her car and started driving.
“He drove maybe about twenty seconds. He stopped the car and started sexually assaulting me, ”she said. “He kept saying, ‘You better shut up or I’ll kill you.’ “
She said she had never seen her attacker’s face, but police shared footage from a surveillance camera.
The suspect is in his late twenties and early thirties with an average build, police said. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie. The suspect’s car is a black four-door Dodge Charger.
The victim said that after the attack, the man drove her back to his car and she drove home and called the police. Once the fear subsided, she found the courage to share her story, as she said she didn’t want anyone else to experience her nightmare.
“I never thought that would happen to me. It’s such a scary world, ”she said. “I’m so glad I made it out alive because I didn’t know what was going to happen to me that night. “
She said she wasn’t going anywhere on her own after the attack, and even brought someone with her to talk to Channel 9.
