Woman assaults Spirit Airlines flight attendants – .

A woman needed to be restrained by another passenger on a Spirit Airlines flight to Nashville on Saturday when she allegedly got drunk and attacked two flight attendants.

A 42-year-old woman has been charged with public drunkenness, court records show. The suspect yelled at arresters to “shoot me” and told them she had “a lot” to drink, according to the Tennessean.

The woman allegedly punched one flight attendant and pulled another’s hair during the 18-hour flight from Fort Lauderdale, according to the report.

A female passenger restrained her feet with restraints when the plane landed and refused to get into a police car at Nashville International Airport around 7 p.m., officials said.

The woman spent the night in jail but was released Sunday morning when her case was dropped because the flight crew refused to press charges, court records and the newspaper show.

“We do not tolerate aggressive behavior of any kind, and this passenger is no longer welcome on any of our flights,” said Spirit Airlines spokeswoman Nicole Aguiar.

“We will work with the appropriate authorities to ensure that this individual is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. “

The airline did not immediately respond to The Post about the incident or the reasons the charges were dropped.

Outrage over the COVID-19 guidelines has skyrocketed violent incidents on planes this year. A survey last month found that 85% of flight attendants had encountered unruly passengers during the pandemic, and nearly one in five had been attacked.

The FAA has received reports of more than five thousand unruly passengers and has investigated more than a thousand incidents so far in 2021 – a more than five-fold increase from the previous year, according to the agency.
