Veteran Chelsea defender Thiago Silva hit back at Paul Scholes after the former Manchester United star claimed Cristiano Ronaldo would find it easy to play against him.

The Blues hosted United at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Sunday night, with Thomas Tuchel’s side preparing for the clash as top-flight leaders.

But if they would have expected to secure a victory over the underperforming Red Devils and extend their advantage at the top of the league, it was not to be for Tuchel’s men.

The game plan put together by interim boss Michael Carrick saw United sit deep for much of the first half before knocking out Chelsea on the counterattack to get past Jadon Sancho.
