Source who gathered Trump-Russia ties for Steele case arrested for lying to FBI – .

An analyst who gathered details of possible Donald Trump ties to Russia for the so-called Steele case has been arrested by federal agents on five counts of making false statements to the FBI.

Igor Danchenko was the main source of former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele’s infamous compendium on Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign and his ties to the Kremlin.

He was questioned by the FBI about his investigations in November 2017, and they allege he made a number of false statements.

It is alleged that Mr. Danchenko lied to officers about speaking and receiving information from a senior public relations executive who “actively campaigned and participated in calls and events as a volunteer at the name of Hillary Clinton ”.

The indictment reads: “On or around June 15, 2017, the defendant denied to FBI agents that he had spoken with PR Executive-1 about any material contained in the company reports, while he was about the truth and the facts, and as a defendant. Well known, PR Executive-1 was the source of an allegation contained in a company report dated August 22, 2016 and was otherwise involved in the events and information described in the reports. “

The company reports mentioned are the Steele file and have become central to the Muller investigation.
