Scotland confirms six cases of omicron – .

DUS military police said on Sunday they arrested a married couple who left a hotel where they were in quarantine after testing positive for Covid-19 and trying to flee the country.
They were arrested “on a plane that was about to take off,” police known as Marechausse said in a statement.

It was not clear whether they had tested positive for the new variant of the omicron coronavirus.

Amsterdam newspaper Het Parool reported that the couple, a Spaniard and a Portuguese, were trying to fly to Spain.

Dozens of passengers who tested positive for Covid-19 after arriving on two flights from South Africa on Friday are being kept in quarantine at a hotel near Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport.

The press release from the Marechausse indicated that the couple, whose names and nationalities were not disclosed, had been handed over to health authorities.

In total, 61 of the more than 600 passengers on flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town have tested positive for Covid-19. Most are in quarantine at the hotel, although some Dutch residents have been allowed to self-quarantine at home.

Dutch health authorities said earlier on Sunday that at least 13 of 61 people are infected with the newly identified Omicron variant of the virus.
