Norwich City messaged ‘their lucky’ as ex-Aston Villa boss Dean Smith is ‘offered’ a job – .

Dean Smith is in line for a quick return to Norwich City management.
The former Aston Villa head coach was offered the Canaries job last night (Friday), The Athletic reports. If he accepts, he will be joined at Carrow Road by Craig Shakespeare, his number two at Villa Park.

Norwich, who wants to make an appointment in the next 48 hours, sacked Daniel Farke last Saturday, with Smith losing his job at Villa a day later.

Former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard had been the frontrunner for the job but dropped out of the race, paving the way for Smith, who is said to have impressed the Canarian hierarchy in talks.

If Smith, who took a break in New York, is nominated by Norwich, his first game would be against Southampton – his last opponent as Villa boss.
