As we noted, WWE announced on September 8 that Triple H had undergone successful heart surgery the previous week at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. The operation was said to be necessary after Triple H suffered a cardiac event, caused by a genetic heart problem. The WWE statement noted how Triple H is expected to make a full recovery.
In an update, Dave Meltzer noted in Sunday Night’s latest Main Event podcast that the Triple H heart event was described as “very, very, very serious” by a source.
Triple H would not have returned to his day-to-day duties with the company, and it remains to be seen when he returns to full-time. The WWE Hall of Famer is expected to return to the business in one form or another, but it has not been confirmed that he will return to the exact same very stressful job he had before.
WWE Brand Manager Stephanie McMahon spoke to talkSPORT last week and, when asked how her husband was doing, replied, “Paul ‘Triple H’ is doing great, thank you very much. ‘have asked. “
We noted earlier this month how Triple H was spotted during a tour of the new WWE HQ offices that are under construction in Stamford, CT. You can click here for footage of Triple H on this tour, which also included WWE President and CEO Vince McMahon, WWE President and Revenue Director Nick Khan, and others.
It was reported on September 17, a few weeks after the operation, that all was calm within WWE over Triple H’s condition, but that he was in good enough shape to take phone calls. The WWE Talents were then informed that they could call The Game and wish him luck, but they were not to discuss WWE business with him. Triple H then released a statement on September 21, in which he said he was recovering and doing well, and was deeply grateful for the love in his life. He also said he was especially grateful to the WWE NXT team and talents, including WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels for stepping up. Michaels is now introduced as VP of Talent Development after previously working as an NXT Coach / Producer.
Triple H missed recent NXT 2.0 recordings, including the big reboot episode in mid-September, but it’s unclear if he was involved at a distance.
Stay tuned for more on Triple H.
