Matthew McConaughey says he won’t run for Texas governor – .

After acknowledging that he had taken the time to explore politics and considered running for governor of Texas, McConaughey said he decided to focus his efforts on the private sector.

“As an ordinary child born in the small town of Uvalde, Texas, it never occurred to me that I would one day be considered for political leadership. It is a humble and inspiring path to ponder. It is also a path that I am choosing not to take at the moment, ”he said.

He also noted that he had studied Texas politics and American politics.

“What have I learned? A lot. That we have problems that we need to solve. That our politics needs a new goal. That we have divisions that need to be corrected, ”he said.

McConaughey also said he would continue to support entrepreneurs, businesses and foundations he “saw as leaders.”
“Institutions that I believe create pathways for people to be successful in life. Organizations whose mission is to serve and build trust while generating prosperity – that’s the American dream, ”said McConaughey. “Politicians, the good guys, can help us get to where we need to go… but let’s be clear, they can’t do anything for us unless we choose to do it ourselves. “

Republican Governor Greg Abbott will run for a third term in Texas. Beto O’Rourke, the former congressman from Texas who ran unsuccessfully for the US Senate in 2018 and the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020, launched his campaign earlier this month.
