While manager Jurgen Klopp isn’t the sloppy kind of character that the mid-season market tends to encourage, this season the Reds might just need an injection of something in. more.
The involvement of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita in the Africa Cup of Nations will leave a squad void, as the squad have also been crippled by injuries already this season.
Liverpool have done well so far, although it wouldn’t be a shock to see the club explore some potential options when the window opens to maintain their early-season momentum.
Here are some players that the bookies have the Reds in the market to land in January.

Raphinha, Leeds United – 5/1
If Liverpool are to enter the market, Raphinha is one of their most likely targets, according to bookmakers.
The Brazil international has been tentatively linked with a move to Anfield in recent times. Raphinha has been excellent in his first tenure at Leeds and has been fantastic again this season, showing the talent and physique to thrive in English football.
With Salah potentially absent, another player who could cut to his left foot and pose a threat from the right flank would be ideal. However, it’s hard to see Leeds receiving offers for such a key player in the middle of a season.
Ivan Toney, Brentford – 16/1
Toney has made no secret of his affinity for the Reds, recently suggesting he would be happy to join Liverpool as a squad option.
Based on what he has shown so far in the Premier League for Brentford, the forward would be able to add a different dimension to the frontline. Toney may not have the same technical skills as some of Liverpool’s current forwards, but his physique and bonding game has been sharpened for the Bees.
While Toney would no doubt love the change, Brentford would be reluctant to make a deal. Losing him would be a major obstacle to their hopes of retaining their place in the Premier League.

Kalvin Phillips, Leeds United – 16/1
Various injuries to Liverpool midfielders could push Klopp into the reinforcement market in this side of the squad.
Phillips fits the bill as he is an all-in-action playmaker that would fit in well with the intense plan that has been established at Anfield in recent years.
However, Liverpool insiders have distanced themselves from a deal for the Phillips.
As is the case with Raphinha, Phillips is a crucial member of the Leeds squad. The captain has also been through the club’s academy and clearly holds the Whites in high regard, making any exit from Elland Road extremely unlikely in January.
Declan Rice, West Ham United – 16/1
Rice has been one of the best players in the Premier League this season, so it would be natural for the division’s elite sides to keep an eye on him.
While Liverpool are noted in betting, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea have been linked with the midfielder much more frequently than the Reds.
West Ham boss David Moyes recently suggested that even £ 100million would not be enough to take Rice away from east London. That figure will surely put off any potential suitors in January, including Liverpool.
