There’s a reason why Kofi Kingston and Mustafa Ali have been missing from WWE lineup recently.
The two men announced the birth of their daughters; Ali tweeted the news about Dua on November 24, while Kingston posted in the same way about the arrival of Lotus Selene Sarkodie-Mensah on November 26th.
In an update, Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reports that Kingston and Ali are both on paternity leave, which was granted to them in advance. Ali reportedly requested a few weeks, and WWE approved that request. Ross Sapp notes that paternity leave was not a factor in abandoned plans for a storyline stemming from Ali’s “Best America” promo, which he shared on social media; Ali made his request before the script was launched. The report also notes that Ali was given extended leave after it was not needed for the 25-man battle royale in the WWE Survivor Series on November 21.
Kingston has been out of action since The Bloodline attacked him during the November 5 episode of WWE SmackDown. WWE then released a “medical update” and revealed that Kingston had suffered an MCL sprain.
WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
