PARIS, Nov. 29 (Reuters) – France recorded its biggest increase in hospital admissions linked to the coronavirus since the spring, data from the Ministry of Health showed on Monday.

The number of patients in intensive care units with COVID-19 jumped from 117 to 1,749, the largest increase since March-April, when the number of intensive care units increased by more than 100 per day over several days .

The number of people hospitalized with the virus jumped from 470 to 9,860, the largest single-day increase since March 29. Compared to a week ago, the number of COVID-19 patients has increased by more than 18%, the largest week-to-week increase this year.

The French Minister of Health said last week that France had entered a fifth wave of the COVID-19 epidemic. France records an average of nearly 30,000 new cases per day.
