Singer Chris Daughtry’s wife is begging people to stop spreading rumors about her daughter’s death, claiming in a lengthy Instagram post that the fake stories add to their pain.
“I lost my child and now I have to deal with rumors and speculation about it too,” Deanna Daughtry wrote Friday alongside a childhood photo of her daughter, Hannah Price. “The people who loved him are suffering and we cry that they don’t talk to the press, they don’t spread rumors and they sure don’t do that for themselves. “
“So everyone please stop by! She continued. “I loved my daughter so much and am experiencing the deepest emotional pain I have ever felt! Please stop making it worse for those of us who love her by spreading rumors and saying disgusting things about our family. We are real people! ”
Price, 25, was found dead at her home by Nashville police on November 12, according to People magazine. Chris Daughtry, Price’s stepfather, broke the news in an Instagram post.
“I’m still processing the last 24 hours. I am absolutely devastated and heartbroken. I just lost my mom to cancer, but I got the chance to say goodbye and was treating him privately, ”he wrote. “We never got to say goodbye to our precious Hannah and this is another huge success for our family. ”
The singer postponed some of his tour dates after Price’s death.
The circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear, but rumors have started to circulate that he was under police investigation as a homicide.
The Tennessee Eighth Judicial District Attorney General’s Office, however, dismissed the rumors and said the sheriff’s office was treating the case as a “death investigation,” according to NBC’s “TODAY” show.
District Attorney General Jared Effler said in a press release that “any attempt to classify it as a homicide investigation at this time is premature and irresponsible.”
“Once the investigation into Hannah Marie Price’s death is completed, the authorities will forward their findings to the 8th Judicial District Attorney General’s Office for review,” he said.
Deanna Daughtry echoed this statement in her Instagram post.
“The news circulating that we said our daughters’ deaths are being investigated because a homicide is false!” ” she wrote. “We weren’t told and we never told anyone! The day Hannah was found, I shared some concerns I had with some people I know and said we won’t know for sure until the investigation is complete. Someone took this and went running with it or they talked to someone else who then made a guess and went running to the press with it. None of us can jump to conclusions. ”
Deanna Daughtry has asked anyone with information that could help the case to share it with the police.
Price and his brother Griffin Daughtry, 23, are the children of Deanna Daughtry from a previous marriage. Chris Daughtry, a former American Idol contestant, and Deanna Daughtry also share twins, Adalynn Rose and Noah James, 10.
