Brooks Koepka wanted to “spank” Bryson DeChambeau in The Match. He succeeded.

Koepka beat DeChambeau at “The Match” at the Wynn Golf Course in Las Vegas in a one-sided affair on Friday. It was supposed to be a 12 hole game, but Koepka had a four hole lead after nine, making it unnecessary to play the last three.

“It’s kind of like my major right now,” Koepka said. “I’m not going to lie. I just wanted to spank him.

In his most recent events on the PGA Tour, Koepka has missed the cup twice in a row. He did not finish better than 38th in a tournament this season.

“Where is it on the PGA TOUR?” DeChambeau asked rhetorically, mid-game.

Golfers quarreled publicly for a while, but buried the hatchet to coexist as Ryder Cup teammates.

On the TNT show, Charles Barkley, who was joined by Phil Mickelson for commentary, half-joked that he was happy the match ended so quickly, giving him the opportunity to fly to the Iron Bowl to see his alma mater, Auburn, take on Alabama football on Saturday.

The Match began as an exhibit on Black Friday in 2018, with competition between Tiger Woods and Mickelson. The following iterations saw Tiger and Peyton Manning team up against Mickelson and Tom Brady, Mickelson and Charles Barkley compete against Manning and Stephen Curry and DeChambeau and Aaron Rodgers take on Mickelson and Brady.
