The Blackhawks are the center of attention in the hockey world after the findings of an internal sexual assault cover-up investigation came to light last week, so it’s only natural that someone in the organization would add a little more gasoline on problematic fire for absolutely no reason.

Chicago hopeful Artur Kayumov decided to take Halloween as an occasion to offend.

In an Instagram post that has since been deleted, Kayumov, from Russia, poses with who is likely his partner, with an Arab keffiyeh on his head and wearing a traditional men’s prayer robe – and of course an assault rifle just for the show. To make matters worse, his girlfriend or wife is wearing a sari, a traditional Indian clothing, so it is not only a racist costume, but also an ignorant costume.

Kayumov also posted another photo to her Instagram story.

This show of somewhat honest bigotry is certainly not an isolated case, as one Arab hockey fan points out.

In what is arguably the most troubling time for the NHL – and the Blackhawks in particular – in recent memory, perhaps a terrible and offensive Halloween costume isn’t the best thing to flaunt.

A second-round pick in 2016, 23-year-old Kayumov played his last five seasons for KHL’s Lokomotiv Yaroslavl.
