The Steelers announced on Saturday that Ben Roethlisberger will be placed on the reserve / COVID-19 roster and miss their Week 10 game against the Lions. Mason Rudolph will start in place of Roethlisberger and Dwayne Haskins will be the new backup QB.
Earlier this month, Roethlisberger said on Dan Patrick’s show that he is vaccinated against COVID-19. Players vaccinated from the reserve / COVID-19 list must be asymptomatic for 48 hours and produce two negative tests 24 hours apart in order to return to the active list.
Roethlisberger and the Steelers were a game-changer after starting Season 1-3. Pittsburgh have won four straight games behind the strength of their defense, including an impressive 15-10 victory over rival Cleveland Browns in Week 8.
Roethlisberger has 10 touchdown passes this season for four interceptions and has 1,986 passing yards.
Rudolph has started nine games in his career, including eight in the 2019 season after Roethlisberger was lost for the year due to an elbow injury. His most recent start came in Week 17 of the 2020 season when he threw two touchdown passes and one interception in a loss to the Browns.
