Those who grew up in the 80s like me, you might want to prepare yourself because HBO Max is 8-bit Christmas the trailer is about to send you on a trip down memory lane. Like I said, HBO Max unboxed a 8-bit Christmas trailer and footage Thursday. Directed by Michael Dowse (Continue, Stuber), 8-bit Christmas is a humorous and sincere return on the adventures of childhood. Set in the Chicago suburbs of the late 1980s, the story centers around ten-year-old Jake Doyle’s herculean quest to get the latest and greatest video game system for Christmas.
8-bit Christmas stars Neil Patrick Harris as adult Jake Doyle with Winslow Fegley as his ten-year-old counterpart. June Diane Raphael, Steve Zahn, Cyrus Arnold and Sophia Reid-Gantzert are also on the bill. Kevin Jakubowski wrote the screenplay, which is based on his 2013 novel of the same name.
In addition to dropping a 8-bit Christmas Trailer online, HBO Max also debuted several stills and a poster for the upcoming movie:
