If a coworker sent me a dead pig, I would just stop.

Okay, you might be familiar with the term “acting method” – a technique that encourages actors to use their own experiences and emotions for roles. It may also involve trying to live as a character, even when the cameras are off.

Of course, this approach – or its continuation – may mean that some people are going a little, uh, far. Here are some actors who really went to the deep end:

Lady Gaga spoke with an Italian accent for nine months while filming Gucci House.

“It’s been three years since I started working on it and I’m going to be completely honest and transparent: I’ve lived like her (Reggiani) for a year and a half,” she told British Vogue. The immersion resulted in “psychological difficulties” for Gaga, who took a walk for the first time in about two months and believed she was still on a film set.

Ashton Kutcher was hospitalized twice with pancreatitis as he prepared to play Steve Jobs in Works.

Ashton tried following Steve Jobs’ IRL Fruitarian Diet, which didn’t go very well. According to his wife, Mila Kunis, “He was so stupid. He… only ate grapes at one point… we ended up in the hospital twice. With pancreatitis! It was really stupid! ”

Michael B. Jordan needed therapy after isolating himself while playing Killmonger in Black Panther.

“I spent a lot of time alone,” explained Michael. “I thought that Erik [Killmonger], his childhood was quite lonely. He didn’t have a lot of people to talk to about this place called Wakanda which didn’t exist. ”

Jared Leto sent his mate to throw a dead pig during his time as Joker in Suicide Squad.

Just one of the examples of Jared’s method, he also sent a live rat to Margot Robbie and asked the cast and crew to call her “Mistah J”. He’s only in the two-hour movie for about 10 minutes.

Robert Pattinson was trying to make himself vomit, lick mud, piss himself, put rocks in his shoes and get drunk while filming Lighthouse.

While discussing his role later, he added, “I always say about people playing the method, you never see people doing the method until they are playing a jerk. You never see someone being lovely to everyone when they are really deep in their character.

Daniel Day-Lewis refused to leave his wheelchair and damaged two ribs during filming My left foot.

He also insisted that the team spoon feed him while playing Christy Brown, an Irish artist with cerebral palsy.

The experience caused him to have panic attacks for the first two weeks of filming and leave people behind on set, forgetting that he couldn’t find his way back.

Additionally, he wore a bandage around his head for four weeks while filming, which resulted in acne and ingrown hairs.

Finally, Will Smith said he actually fell in love with his Six DEGREES OF SEPARATION co-star Stockard Channing during filming.

“So the movie was over and I went home, and I was dying to see Stockard. I was like ‘Oh no! What did I do?’ It was my last experience with the acting method, ”he said.
