Zinedine Zidane and Thierry Henry’s unique corner kick routine for France at Euro 2004 – .

One of the most surprising statistics in football is that Zinedine Zidane has only assisted one Thierry Henry goal in 59 France games together.

Henry is the top scorer in French history with 51 goals. Zidane, meanwhile, is arguably the greatest French footballer in history.

So it’s quite remarkable that the only time they combined for a France goal was against Brazil in the 2006 World Cup final.

However, the two legendary French stars combined perfectly for a daring corner kick routine at Euro 2004.

In the first half of a group game against Croatia, Henry took a corner from the left side of the pitch and chose Zidane, who was standing with his back to the goal outside the penalty area.

Zidane, one of the most skillful and innovative footballers of all time, caught the Croatian players off guard with a superb shot in the box.

The ball fell perfectly on William Gallas, who really should have scored with his header from close range.

If his timing had been better, France would have scored and it would have been one of the best corner goals in football history.
