The French Finance Minister is adamant on the EU for a global role Are you sure? | Politics

French Minister Bruno Le Maire insisted that Europe will play a leading global role ahead of Britain between the Chinese and American superpowers. Emmanuel Macron’s ally made the bold comments to the BBC after publicly accusing Brexit of exacerbating supply chain problems in the UK. Mr Le Maire argued that the European bloc, including France, will occupy the only place left in international affairs as the third center of power between the west and the east.

Mr Le Maire told the BBC: “I don’t want to criticize the British approach because it is the sovereign choice made by the British people.
“But you know, when you look closely at the current world situation, you have on the right side, the United States, on the other side, the rise of China, and then there’s only one place left – and that’s not will not be for UK.

“It will be for Europe.

“Let’s be clear about this. “

Mr. Le Maire later told reporters in Washington: “We all face the same challenges.”

However, he added: “I would like to stress that within the EU, the fact that we have a single market helps us to cope with the difficulties of the labor market.
The Department for Transport (DfT) has announced plans to lift the limit on the number of deliveries foreign truck drivers can make in the UK for up to six months.

Currently, EU carriers can only make two trips to drop off or collect goods between locations in the UK in a week.

Under the DfT proposal, there would be no restriction on the number of trips foreign truck drivers can make in a two-week period before returning to their home country.

Mr. Shapps told Times Radio: “Christmas is coming. We will be able to see our friends and our families. There will be food, there will be gifts. “
