Everything is ready for Apple’s October event – Apple Unleashed. The day is here. Last week, Apple sent out invitations for the Unleashed event which is scheduled for Monday, October 18 at 10 a.m. PT (10:30 p.m. IST). The latest leaks on the event claim that Apple will unveil the revamped MacBook Pro lineup. The all-new MacBook Pro running on the company’s own M-series processors is expected to come with an all-new chassis design and more. Some images that have surfaced online via Chinese tipster TiAmo on Weibo show that the MacBook Pro has a notch at the top middle of the screen. The notch cutout would house the FaceTime camera and ambient light sensors.
Why the notch in the nine MacBook
Notch is nothing new in Apple design. Apple introduced the notch for iPhone in 2017 with the iPhone X. Since then, notch has been featured on iPhones, including the recently launched iPhone 13 series. In fact, the notch has also been adopted by several Android phone makers over the years. When it comes to MacBooks, rumors have it that the reason Apple may go for a notch on a Mac screen is for aesthetics. “Apple could choose to minimize the bezel on the top, left, and right edges of the top case. In this case, a screen cutout would be necessary to accommodate the camera body, even if Face ID is not present, ”indicates a report in 9à5mac. “The center of a Mac screen is often empty because menu bar items don’t extend that far. As the new MacBook Pros are also expected to use mini-LED technology, it’s also possible that Apple will shade the menu bar black on these models to blend the true blacks of the screen content with the physical notch area. , adds the report. MacRumours also did conceptual renderings based on notch display leaks.
Likely specification of new MacBooks
The new MacBook Pros are expected to be available in two screen sizes: 14 and 16 inches. They’re likely to run on newer Apple processors – M1X chips that are supposed to deliver more CPU and GPU cores. Both laptops are likely to have thinner bezels, a mini-LED display, and more ports. Rumors also suggest a 1080p camera and MagSafe recharge MacBook Pros.
Speculation is also high that Apple may launch AirPods 3 at the event. The same launch was previously scheduled to take place at the iPhone 13 event held on September 14. Apple’s AirPOds haven’t seen an update for almost two years. The latest rumors suggest the AirPod 3 might sport shorter stems for the design (similar to the AirPods Pro). There is no clarity on the noise cancellation so far.
