“Survivor 41” Episode 4 Recap – They Hate Me Because They Are Not Me – .

SurvivorThe last castaway to be eliminated left with some poignant words: “It’s not supposed to be easy, because nothing good ever is. Truer words, my friends.

In Wednesday’s episode, a perk turned back into a disadvantage, when Shan (listen to the music!) convinced JD to hand in his extra vote for the second time. While Genie seemed like the likely vote, having JD’s advantage in hand spun Shan’s wheels, and the Toronto Mafia pastor weighed the option of turning against his ally and reaping the benefits of a nice stab in the back.

Did she pull the trigger? Read on for a full recap of Episode 4.

TEACHING A MAN TO FISH … | Genie is pissed off that she was in the dark during Brad’s vote last week, but Shan reveals Brad had a secret advantage that he didn’t tell his ally Genie about. It makes JD’s ears straighten up. Last week, Shan had “raked over the coals” for keeping his advantage a secret, while Shan was too hide information from him. Good for JD for defending himself and calling him! He, of course, is getting his extra vote back from Shan’s clutches… for now.

For their first reward challenge, players must roll a ball down a track and cross a small course of ropes to catch it on the other side. Then they have to dig in the sand to crawl under a beam, before placing their balls on a high platform at the end. Heather can’t figure out the chord on the track, which causes Luvu to quickly fall for it. Ua destroys the competition, gaining time with a local Fijian teaching them how to make a decent living off the land. Yase, meanwhile, wins a single fish to share between them.

Despite the fact that Heather alone loses the challenge for Luvu, she is warmly embraced by her tribe never to give up. Seeing how kind her tribe is to her – especially Danny – in her moment of weakness is heartwarming, even as she falls to the ground in tears. In Survivor (and in real life too) you can never give up. You must continue to truck. She does exactly that and should be proud.

I LIKE YOU | Erica, the self-proclaimed ‘lioness in lamb’ clothing, says she’s okay with losing the next immunity. She’s ready to show her teeth and kick someone on the sidewalk. Yes, Heather may be their weakest link, but Sydney is an emotional player and “a little bit mean,” according to the pint-sized lioness. Deshawn, however, thinks Erica is “a little known” and trusts Sydney a lot more. Deshawn spills Erica’s tea in Sydney, who tells us, “I’m the threat of threats.” I am very wise, I am beautiful, I am a physical threat… ”(She is modest too!) It is smart of Deshawn to pit the two ladies against each other. If Luvu heads towards Tribal, he covers his bases and keeps the target on other people. You must respect this commotion.

Deshawn hints to Danny that he wants to challenge Erica out, but the former professional footballer says it would be a “sin.” If there is one thing we know of Survivor past seasons is that to challenge always come back and bite you.

IMMUNITY IS BACK TO SEIZE | Players have to run through the water collecting three bags of blocks, which will help them get a key. The key unlocks a set of rings. Throw the rings at a series of targets, gain immunity.

Danny tells us that he and Deshawn made decide to issue the challenge, but Yase sucks so hard that it becomes harder and harder for Luvu to lose. Jeff (that rowdy!) Even calls Luvu for taking up the challenge like he’s on a picnic. Danny continues to half do it, but a distraught Naseer has no idea that there is a sabotage mission going on. After Deshawn purposely misses several shots, Naseer walks up to the plate and gains immunity for Luvu, shortly after Yase lands all of theirs. Ua returns to the Tribal Council.

STRATEGY | Genie tells JD that she plans to play her Shot in the Dark. She asks him if he would vote Ricard so she can bet her vote, but JD runs straight to Ricard to chat. Shan worries that JD is working with Genie, and as she knows about her added voting advantage, she begins to plot. She purposely tells JD that she thinks he’s plotting against her, but in reality, it’s a ploy to make him give up his advantage again. AND IT DOES.

JD, JD, JD! Shouldn’t Shan trust you enough based on your olive branch from last week? And do you really believe that Shan is not will write your name? Because in the next scene it’s exactly what she plans! Frankly? It’s the movement here, and Shan would be foolish not to take advantage of it. She tells us that she loves JD like a little brother, but as we all know being nice to people – even the ones you love – doesn’t earn you $ 1 million.

THE TRIBE TALKED | Genie tells Jeff that she is playing from below, and the poor woman looks rather defeated. She knows her Shot in the Dark is her last chance to survive, but JD warns against it. It could potentially fail someone who is willing to work with her, he says. If she’s rejected tonight, Probst asks Genie what he’ll miss about the experience. “These guys,” she said with teary eyes. “We are shot down to our bare bones and our emotions. A lot of it is exhaustion, and a lot of it is because I truly believe we bonded.

With that, it’s time to vote. JD votes for Genie, but we not see Genie use his dice. Why wouldn’t the show make it a meal unless …

JD is shockingly rejected. Shan took the step. She did the trick. And now, she’s the new owner of JD’s Extra Voting Benefit.

Was this the right game for Shan and Ricard? Are you disgusted with JD? Let your feelings fly in the comments!
