Lawyer Dick DeGuérin told multiple media outlets on Saturday that Durst had been placed on a ventilator for the past two days after contracting the virus – but hadn’t had much of an update beyond that, adding that the legal team didn’t had not heard from the doctors yet.

He said Durst looked terrible on Thursday – when he was life sentence after being recently convicted of murder – noting it was the ‘worst I’ve ever seen’. DeGuerin added that Durst had difficulty breathing and speaking that day.

Durst sat calm and still during his sentencing hearing, looking incredibly frail in a wheelchair… while wearing a face mask. It is not known whether he tested positive before or after the hearing.

As we have reported… Durst’s fate is to live out his final years behind bars, without the possibility of parole. It was guilty for having murdered his close friend, Susan Berman, in 2000. Although he was never charged with the crime, many believe she was about to reveal information linking Durst to his wife’s disappearance, Kathy, which disappeared in the 1980s.

Durst’s story has been covered extensively in HBO’s “The Jinx” docuseries in which he allegedly confessed to killing Kathy and Susan after being overheard on a hot mic.

Durst is 78 years old, and his health was already in decline before this COVID diagnosis.
