Rob Zombie shares first cast preview for upcoming comedy film the Munsters – .


Rob Zombie shared a first look at the set for the upcoming comedy film The Munsters on his Instagram account on Monday.

The photo of the 56-year-old musician and filmmaker saw his frequent collaborators Jeff Daniel Phillips and Dan Roebuck, as well as his wife, Sheri Moon Zombie, as Herman, Grandpa and Lily Munster, respectively.

The artist also wrote a short message in the caption of his post to let his fans know his enthusiasm for the upcoming feature film.

He added, “As Halloween is just around the corner, I thought it was a great time to MEET THE MUNSTERS! “Directly from the ensemble in good old Hungary.”

Zombie also noted that the original setting for the series was completely recreated on the set of the upcoming film.

“I introduce Herman, Lily and the Earl sitting outside the newly completed 1313 Mockingbird Lane,” he wrote.

News of the project’s development came in early summer when it was revealed that singer Dragula would be directing the film, based on the beloved 1964-1966 series of the same name.

The show followed a family of likable characters, all based on various horror movie tropes, and served to satirize popular family-oriented programs of the time.

Although the series was only produced for a total of two seasons, it has since seen a healthy resurgence in syndication.

The show proved popular with audiences and lasted for three seasons in total, with its finale airing in 1991.

An attempt to modernize the series was undertaken by Keenen Ivory, Shawn and Marlon Wayans in 2004, although their project never saw the light of day.

A 2012 TV special titled Mockingbird Lane was released on NBC and served to reboot the series and take it in a darker direction.

The pilot featured performances from such figures as Jerry O’Connell, Portia de Rossi and Eddie Izzard, although he was not picked up for a full series.

Seth Meyers also attempted to revamp The Munsters in 2017, with his efforts ultimately failing with network executives.

After Zombie initially made an announcement about the upcoming feature, he then shared several updates on the progress of the project on his Instagram account over the summer.

In addition to directing the next film, the singer also wrote his screenplay and is one of the producers.

The Munsters will be released in theaters and on the Peacock streaming service at an unspecified date in the future.
