Pedestrian dies after being struck by two vehicles in East York hit and run – .

Toronto police said a pedestrian in East York died after being struck by two vehicles, one of which fled.

Police were called to O’Connor Drive and Pape Avenue at around 9:30 p.m. after a pedestrian was struck.

Police said the pedestrian was crossing from the south side to the north side of O’Connor Drive when he was struck.

“We believe that a black four-door vehicle traveling eastward initially struck this pedestrian,” said Insp. Don Thériault told CP24 at the scene. “The pedestrian was pushed into the westbound lanes and struck by a second vehicle. The pedestrian was stuck under this second vehicle.

Passers-by were the first to arrive and tried to help him, but could not reach him.

The pedestrian was trapped under the vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency teams, police said.

The first driver to hit the pedestrian fled, police said.

“Our information is that this black vehicle that was first involved first stopped at the scene, but then fled,” Thériault said.

Toronto Paramedics said the driver of the second vehicle was being assessed for unspecified injuries.

Roads in the area are expected to be closed overnight as police investigate the fatal incident.
