PA officially becomes sister cities with the France community – .

PA Mayor Greg Dionne said that because of Giles, the two communities have a bond, unlike their previous sister city.

“The others that applied to us were for more economic benefits and they were used more to be able to travel to our country,” he said.

Along with the economy, their partnership with the city of Jilin, China was “cut short” until all political issues between Canada and China were resolved.

The PA also received requests from Mpohor Wass East District, Ghana, and Totogalpa, Nicaragua in the early 2010s. They were both turned down.

Judy MacLeod Campbell, Arts and Culture Coordinator for the City of Prince Albert, spoke to paNOW earlier this month, when the partnership was still not finalized.

She noted that this type of partnership will only be positive for both communities.

“It’s also a way for us to share ceremonies, just talk about it and work with schools and the community,” said MacLeod Campbell.
