Ontario Today Reports Just Over 500 New Coronavirus Cases, 2 More Deaths – .

Ontario is reporting just over 500 new cases of COVID-19 today, about 100 fewer cases than was confirmed last Monday.

Provincial health officials recorded 511 new COVID-19 infections today, up from 580 on Sunday and 613 a week ago.

The province did not disclose the number of cases today involving unvaccinated, partially vaccinated and fully immunized people.

Some updated immunization-related data was not provided today due to a “technical issue,” according to provincial officials.

The seven-day moving average of new cases continues to decline in Ontario, falling to 582 today, from 621 last Monday.

Of the cases confirmed today, 88 are in Peel Region, 85 in Toronto, 46 ​​in Ottawa and 30 in York Region.

With 23,667 tests completed in the past 24 hours, officials are reporting a province-wide positivity rate of 2%, comparable to the positivity rate reported a week ago.

The number of COVID-19 patients in intensive care units (ICU) is also steadily declining. According to the Ministry of Health, 159 patients are receiving intensive care treatment in Ontario hospitals, up from 184 last week.

Two more deaths linked to the virus were added today to the total death toll in the province, which now stands at 9,754.

With 488 more cases now considered resolved, the number of known active cases in the province stands at 5,004, about 600 fewer active infections than those reported last Monday.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 588,612 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 573,854 recoveries.

About a third of all active cases are school-related, according to the latest data from the province.
