Nicola Sturgeon’s Covid Passport App “Not Available to Poorest Scots” – .

Nicola Sturgeon’s flagship vaccination app will not be available to thousands of low-income people, it has emerged.
To register for the program, users must upload a photo of their driver’s license or passport.

But it is believed that around 300,000 people in Scotland do not hold any of these documents, many of them from ethnic minority communities and poorer households.

Labor spokesperson Jackie Baillie said: “It is completely wrong that those who cannot get a passport or a driver’s license cannot access vaccine certification.

“This risks worsening inequalities in our society and could lead to a backlash against the immunization program. “

Scottish Conservative shadow health secretary Dr Sandesh Gulhane added: ‘The vaccination rate is already the lowest in our BAME communities. Asking for this level of identification only further excludes them in society.

Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton said: “This is yet more evidence of discrimination. There must be thousands of Scots who don’t have acceptable photo ID.

A Scottish government spokesman insisted that those who did not have the application could apply for a paper copy of their certificate.
