Liverpool investigate after Man City file complaint alleging fans spat at Pep Guardiola backroom staff

Manchester City have lodged a complaint with Liverpool over a fan who allegedly spat at members of his backroom staff during the 2-2 draw at Anfield.

Liverpool have confirmed they are investigating the allegation, which allegedly took place after City’s first goal. There would also be pictures of the assailant.

City boss Pep Guardiola hopes the hosts take action if the claim is proven, but insisted this type of behavior is “some people – not just the LFC” after referring to the degradation of their team bus at the stadium in 2018.

He said Air sports: ” I do not know what happened. I heard something from the crowd – something rude to the staff. But I don’t know what exactly. I haven’t seen the pictures.

“I’m pretty sure if that happens, which people have told me, I’m sure Liverpool will take action on this person. Liverpool are much bigger than this behavior.

“Nothing will change my admiration for this club. It was the same story two, three years ago when we came here and they destroyed our bus – it’s some people, not just Liverpool FC.

“It’s always a pleasure to come to this stadium. It’s an honor for that atmosphere, the way they support the team. That’s why it’s Anfield. “

Guardiola was seen protesting fans behind the canoes as he was angered by an incident in which James Milner dodged a warning for a perceived foul on Bernardo Silva in the second half.

Guardiola himself received a yellow card from referee Paul Tierney for his protests, before Kevin De Bruyne’s strike earned the visitors a point after the score went blank at half-time.

Sadio Mane gave the home side the lead before Phil Foden moved to the far corner to make it 1-1. A superb solo goal from Mohamed Salah appeared to have won the game for Liverpool but De Bruyne struck via a deflection.
